Meet the Team

  • Sien Josephine Teijssen, CSA

    Casting Director

    Sien Josephine holds a Law degree from the University of Antwerp but found her passion in casting in 2011, eventually creating Sien Josephine Casting in 2015. Since then, she has cast award-winning projects with both emerging talents and renowned directors.

    For Sien, casting goes beyond simply finding the right person for a role; it is a crucial element of storytelling that enhances authenticity and shapes how stories are perceived on screen. Her deep passion for the craft drives her to work closely with directors, producers, and talent, ensuring that each production is not only technically proficient but also socially and culturally impactful. Her dedication to advancing the casting profession, along with her dedication to diversity and inclusion, is the driving force behind her work. Sien is a Board Member of the CSA Global Chapter, serves on the Advisory Board of the ICDA, and is on the Board of the Ostend Film Festival. She is also a member of the European Film Academy.

  • Maarten Lens

    Casting Director

    Maarten Lens is a Journalism graduate from AP Hogeschool. He began his career as an intern-production assistant at VRT and Warner Bros. After gaining experience in management and sales, he transitioned into casting, initially working as a casting assistant at Sien Josephine Casting. However, Maarten has quickly evolved into casting award-winning commercials, and is now responsible for all commercial projects within Sien Josephine Casting.

    Maarten is known for his eye for unique talent, focusing on finding individuals with distinctive characters and skills. His passion for uncovering real, standout talent defines his success in casting.

  • Cynthia Schenkels

    Young Talent Coach & Diversity Advisor

    Cynthia holds a Bachelor's degree in Social and Cultural Work from Karel De Grote Hogeschool. Her career includes roles as a producer for theatre companies SINCOLLECTIEF, fABULEUS, and Caravan Production. In 2018, she joined "de nieuwe spelers," where she supported young actors from diverse backgrounds in their development.

    With over 20 years of experience, Cynthia has a deep understanding of cultural sensitivity and diverse realities. While not involved in casting directly, she plays an advisory role, recognizing the strength and potential in individuals from all backgrounds. Her respect for (young) people's experiences, combined with her professionalism, ensures alignment with both the director’s vision and the production's needs.

  • Lore Loyens

    Casting Assistant

    Lore Loyens earned her Master’s degree in Film Directing at KASK School of Arts, Ghent.

    In 2023, she directed 'Subterranean,' Belgium's first AI-scripted film, which premiered at Film Fest Gent and garnered significant media attention. She also participated in panels and masterclasses discussing AI's impact on filmmaking. Her short film, 'Did It Hurt When You Fell from Heaven,' won the 'WeLoveCinema Young Talent Award'.

    After successfully completing her Mediarte internship, Lore joined the team part-time as a casting assistant, working on numerous projects for Sien Josephine Casting.

  • Charlotte Woerlee

    Children's Coach

    Charlotte Woerlee holds a Bachelor's degree in Media and Culture from the University of Amsterdam and both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Film Directing from RITCS in Brussels. As a freelance director, assistant director, and children’s coach, she uses her directing experience to support children and their directors.

    Charlotte is dedicated to balancing a child’s needs with the director’s vision, believing that a safe and supportive environment allows young actors to fully realize their potential, which in turn enhances the story.
